My name is Dr Mine Conkbayir. I’m mum to a beautiful daughter, Delilah and I’m an award-winning Early Years author, trainer and consultant.
I designed this app to help parents, foster carers, childminders, Early Years practitioners and teachers to access FREE, quick and effective ways to help young children and teenagers to better manage their emotions.
We all know what it feels like when we are worried, anxious, stressed, angry, or overwhelmed. The more intense the emotion, the more extreme our emotional responses and behaviour can become.
It is usually when it all gets too much, that a child is labelled ‘naughty’, ‘challenging’ or is said to be having a ‘tantrum’. All three are terms I strongly dislike because they fail to help us understand that what is actually happening is that the child has become dysregulated (unable to manage their emotional responses) and what tends to follow is some sort of punishment that only serves to further humiliate and frustrate the child. For the sake of our children’s mental health and self-worth, we must move away from these terms.
